Aunt Jen Sheets

Hubby has an aunt who is our guide to adult life. She is the only aunt or uncle in his family that doesn't have children and that is our goal in life as well. We watched her house awhile ago. She has a great old victorian in Portland that is fabulous! We house sat around this time of year and she taught us an amazing trick that we now refer to as "Aunt Jen's Sheets".

When its not really weather for flannels but you aren't ready to change to normal sheets its time for Aunt Jen's Sheets. One sheet flannel on sheet regular. We choose flannel on bottom and normal on top. It's pretty amazing. I can't explain it but its like ice cream on a hot day or hot chocolate on a snow day. Hot and cold at once. I love this season.

Dweet loves to help make the bed.

My husband is wonderful to help make the bed and pause for photos of Dweet.

My Babies

I take way to many pictures of my animals. But they get along so well now so I have too!

Don't mind my mess

She hides under the bed all the time and leaves her legs hanging out like the wicked witch of the west!

This is what love looks like.

This is how I ride.

Two second before Dweet was sniffing a sleeping Delilah. I swear it was cute.

Pinterest Challenge Follow up

As a follow up to the Pinterest Challenge last week I have finished my TP roll art!

Last we saw it looked like this:
I caught a few moments of dry weather this weekend and instantly started spray painting.
As you know from my friday letters I have O for the weekend so he helped me in my project.

 First side done!
We waited about an hour before flipping that biatch over.
And spraying it again. I love the expressions on his face, I believe his tongue is sticking out on the other side.

I did another layer for good measure and voila! These are from the iPhone sorry about the quality.

The pictures while spray painting give the rich red color more justice. Its very beautiful if I do say to myself.

Friday Letters

I am trying something new here, friday letters! Here it goes!

Dear Husband, thank you for saying silly things when you are half awake/asleep, like wednesday morning you woke up saying "OW" and I asked "Whats wrong? you replied "I have an equator full of voltage through my leg". I asked again to clarify what was hurting.... Thank you for entertaining me. Dear Oregon, is it possible to stay one type of weather for one day? Yesterday it snowed and then I had to wear my sunglasses, make up your mind! Dear phonebooks,

why do you still exist and why do I need three different varieties in a week? I have an iPhone, nuff said. Dear vandals, its not nice to commit criminal mischief two on my lawn, I hope they catch you! Dear Dweet, Dude and Delilah, I wish you would leave my plants alone. Dear O, I cannot wait to spend the weekend with you, we are going to have a blast!

I have been saving TP rolls and paper towel rolls for awhile. My mom actually had a gardening pinterest idea with them. I gave her what she needed and used the rest for my art.

Delilah helped
Beginning design
The "pinspiration" called for craft glue, all I had was Elmers. Lets hope it holds!

There was a little hiccup when Dude's crooked tail knocked my "petals" off the coffee table and I had to re-arrange them only to find some missing. Where were the missing "petals"? Delilah's mouth. Good thing Elmers is non toxic!

Pardon my blurry photos, don't know what got into me. Maybe I was taking this concept a little too seriously?

My next step is sto spray paint that baby red! I am really excited about it. The only thing stopping me is the weather. Where is a gal supposed to spray toxic chemicals when its POURING rain and or snow outside? I will have to update this later.

Office Update

When we lived in our 700 SQ FT apartment we went crazy at Ikea with the Expedit series. Coffee table, desk and book shelf. We have been living with the desk. You may remember my sister needed a desk so we took it to her and that left me without a desk. No fear, Ikea is near.  For 50$ I added another side to the existing desk. Now we have a two sided Expedit Desk.

Remember when I painted the bookshelf? I also painted these boxes and magazine holders from Ikea. I liked how the beautiful green was captured in multiple places in the room. It really makes the color pop and brighten the place. I love them.
I still need to get a photo developed for the YHL DIY photo frame.

It is still a bit cluttered but for now it does the job it was meant for. Both of us can be in the office doing what we need to do.

I really want to add some artwork I am oogling over on Etsy

I love this state artwork, and NM too!

And of course who doesn't love themselves some love birds on yellow chevron?

What Shepherd lover wouldn't love this guy too!

Love this!

Or I could always do this homage to my favorite Beatles song.
Obviously these colors make me swoon!

All I know is my walls are bare and lonely. Hopefully soon I can fix this problem.

Routine

My gal Shannon over at Bungalow960 got me thinking about routine the other day. I am definitely a creature of habit and anyone who knows me will agree, especially the hubby.
Perfect example-
Part One: every morning my coffee maker brews my coffee at 6:21 and I have my two cups before leaving for work. If I run out of 1/2 & 1/2 I don't get my coffee. Therefore this should never happen.
Part two: Back in November, 11/11/11 if I do remember exactly I was out of 1/2 & 1/2. I thought to myself, Starbucks is on the way to work and I can splurge for a Egg Nog Latte, tis the season.
Part Three: Hubby had an interview in Wilsonville this day so it was only logical  he take my gas saving sedan down I-5 and I drive his gas guzzling pickup the mile to work.
Part four: Starbucks has an app for my iPhone that you can upload your gift cards onto so you don't have to carry the cards all the time and they can scan your phone instead. Genius right?

Do you see that three changes in my routine can totally cause a problem? So, I left 15 minutes early (I usually leave the house at 5 to 8 to get to work at 8) to wait in the ridiculous line at Starbucks (problem 2). Decide its a good time to try the new app (problem 4) I get the wonderful Egg Nog Latte, walk back to my husbands car and start digging for the keys (different car, problem 3). After a few minutes of desperate digging for the keys I realize that they are in the cup holder next to my purse, breakfast and badge to get into work. This sounds tragic but as you may have read above I live 5 minutes from work and Starbucks is on the way to work. They are right across the street from each other so I started the walk. Luckily I dressed warm and had the glorious Latte to keep me company. I get to work, Have to wait for someone to let me in because my badge is still in the car with my keys.

I have amazing co-workers and one volunteered to drive the 5 minutes to my house so I could pick up the spare and then drive me to the pickup at Starbucks.

But do you see how a few minor things can totally throw me off?

The point of this story you ask?

Day light savings. My worst nightmare. I consider making the move to Arizona every 6 months. For someone so into routine this is evil, pure evil. Its not just me its my internal clock, my cat and dogs that get messed up. My husband? Not so much. He can sleep in no matter what. Me I was up at 6 today and realized it was "really" 7 so I should get up to acclimate my self to the new time. I will be miserable and randomly hungry for the next few weeks. Terrible idea day light savings.
